And yet Hamas and Fatah aren’t exactly buddy-buddy…& it’s Hamas that is the defender of land in the West Bank? What do the Fatah representatives in Gaza say about this? What do the displaced in Gaza say about this? I can almost smell the hand of Iran in this claim.
The reconciliation process and unification of Hamas and Fatah administrations remains unfinalized and the situation is deemed a frozen conflict…which sounds so familiar…like the Hamas Israeli negotiation.

The battle (The Battle of Gaza was a military conflict between Fatah and Hamas that took place in the Gaza Strip from 10 to 15 June 2007resulted in the dissolution of the unity government and the de facto division of the Palestinian territories into two entities: the West Bankgoverned by the Palestinian National Authority (PNA), and the Gaza Strip governed by Hamas. Hamas fighters took control of the Gaza Strip, while Fatah officials were either taken as prisoners, executed, or expelled.

Yep. It’s like the chubby girl on the back of your bike. “Damn fun to ride, but you just don’t want your Buddies seeing it happen.

Iran and Saudi Arabia are engaged in an ongoing struggle for influence in the Middle East and other regions of the Muslim world. Gotta have Street Cred (or whatever the Middle East equivalent of that is) with the Muslim Brothers in solidarity etc…but here we are. In return for its cooperation, Saudi Arabia wants from Washington a formal defence pact, assistance in building a civilian nuclear programme, and expedited access to high-end US weapons, including F-35 fifth-generation fighter aircraft…’cuz climate change and global warming, etc…Saving the planet one F-35 at a time. I’m sure Greta would approve.
This whole thing is complex.

It's all going to get settled soon enough without blowing more shit up.

Its not as cut and dry as you once thought is it?
Not even close. You have to have a sense of humour to appreciate the whole situation.

I think I have also stumbled across what happened to that hospital in Gaza. The famous “500 fatalities caused by Israeli Jews firing rockets from that cemetery in Gaza over the hospital at…Israeli Jews in Israel” thing too.

At least 22 people have been killed in airstrikes on Rafah, as Hamas and Israel face pressure to engage in what are seen as last-chance ceasefire talks before a threatened Israeli ground invasion into the southernmost part of the Gaza Strip.

Strikes that hit three houses in the city next to the Egyptian border on Monday injured many more people, while in Gaza City, the bombing of two buildings killed another four people and wounded several more, medics said.

The Israeli attacks come amid renewed international efforts to broker a ceasefire in the nearly seven-month-old conflict: a Hamas delegation including the Palestinian militant group’s deputy Gaza chief, Khalil al-Hayya, was expected in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, on Monday to respond to Israel’s latest truce and hostage release proposal via Egyptian and Qatari mediators.

Why is Israel the only one that's supposed to "comply" with cease fire? What about Hamas? They're the ones that started things & yet not one time have I heard that Hamas need to take responsibility for their barbarism. It's incredible that there are those who blame Israel solely for what is happening without giving attention to the fact it takes 2 to tangle & you won't have peace if only one side has to comply; it'll mean slaughter!

Oh, I keep forgetting - it's one of the many ways they want to reduce the world population. Darn it, I forgot about that part. Wars, food insecurity, land ownership dissolved, electrical failures during extreme heat & cold et al. It's all coming to pass unless there are changes & I honestly don't see it coming because the elections aren't secure anymore.

I also wonder if there'll be an election at all, especially if Biden (or Trudeau later) declare a climate crisis whereby everything will be put on hold with no elections possible due to environmental concerns. Sounds like that's a conspiracy but we all know how that's gone down in recent years. Is it a conspiracy or not. Only time will tell.

The US secretary of state has said that “the only thing standing between the people of Gaza and a ceasefire” is Hamas, ahead of what are seen as last-chance talks to salvage a diplomatic solution before a threatened Israeli ground invasion in Rafah.

Speaking at a World Economic Forum meeting in Saudi Arabia on Monday, Antony Blinken said: “Hamas has before it a proposal that is extraordinarily generous on the part of Israel.

“They have to decide and they have to decide quickly … I’m hopeful that they will make the right decision and we can have a fundamental change in the dynamic.”

The UK foreign secretary, David Cameron, told the same gathering that Hamas should accept the deal for a “sustained 40 days’ ceasefire”.

So what will Hamas do?

They'll take the opportunity to rebuild so they can attack again.

The United States found five units of Israel's security forces responsible for gross violations of human rights, the first time Washington has reached such a conclusion about Israeli forces, the State Department said on Monday, though it has not barred any of the units from receiving U.S. military assistance.

Israel has conducted "remediation" in the cases of four of the units in compliance with U.S. law prohibiting military assistance to security force units that commit such abuses and have not been brought to justice, State Department deputy spokesperson Vedant Patel told reporters.

The incidents in question took place outside of Gaza before conflict broke out between Israel and Hamas in October, Patel said.

Human rights groups say they have reported incidents involving Israeli units including extrajudicial killings, torture and physical abuse to the State Department, most of them committed against Palestinians in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

Patel declined to offer specifics on the violations U.S. officials looked at, which units were involved or what remediation steps were taken.

"Four of these units have effectively remediated these violations, which is what we expect partners to do," Patel said. In the case of a fifth unit, Washington has not yet determined whether there has been sufficient remediation and was still in discussions with Israel, he said.
Passover, the oldest continuously-observed religious ritual in the world, is being celebrated this week. It is the seminal story of slavery and liberation that continues to inspire successive generations of Jews and non-Jews alike.

In this modern-day era of violent, widespread antisemitism, in which Jewish people are denigrated and those who seek our annihilation are lionized, it is time once more to invoke Moses’ iconic exhortation to Pharoah: “Let my people go!”

First and foremost, free the hostages held in Gaza who have now been held by Hamas for more than 200 days, languishing in deteriorating health, suffering missing limbs and, reportedly, sexual abuse.

Our cry for freedom does not end with the release of the hostages. We continue to demand freedom from the hatred that has held the Jews accountable for numerous societal ills over the last 3,000 years.

We demand freedom for Jewish people from the unbridled persecution, assault, defamation and double standards that have been increasingly normalized in public discourse worldwide and tacitly indulged by too many of our political and civic leaders.
Meanwhile, Hamas is still Hamas. Hamas has repeatedly said it will not accept a deal that does not include a permanent ceasefire and a complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza – which have been major sticking points in negotiations, etc…

There is potential for a lot more to surface. ICC grade accusations against Israel equal to what happened in Ukraine.

Long term. Short term though, will Hamas agree to a reprieve for Gaza before Israel steps up and onto Rafah? If not, will Hamas shoulder any blame or will this be fully on Israel?

The latest proposal, which Israel “helped” craft but has not fully agreed to, (???) is laid out in two phases, the first of which calls for 20 to 33 hostages to be released over several weeks in exchange for the pause and the release of Palestinian prisoners.

The second phase is what sources described as the “restoration of sustainable calm,” (???) during which the remaining hostages, captive Israeli soldiers and the bodies of hostages would be exchanged for more Palestinian prisoners.

The diplomatic source familiar with the talks said the reference to sustainable calm was “a way to agree to a permanent ceasefire without calling it that.”

After months of deadlock, agreement from both sides would be a major step toward ending the war. But a failure to agree could deepen Israel’s presence in Gaza — if no deal is made, Israel is likely to launcha large-scale ground invasion into the southern Gaza city of Rafah.
The length of the first phase of the pause in hostilities would be linked to the number of hostages released, with the latest framework calling for a one-day pause for each hostage, the Israeli source said, although this number is expected to shift during more in-depth negotiations.

The release of 40 hostages for a six-week ceasefire had been the basis of negotiations for months, but Israel has agreed to accept fewer hostages in the first phase after Hamas dropped its offer to fewer than 20 people earlier this month.

“The only thing standing between the people of Gaza and cease-fire is Hamas,” Blinken added. “They have to decide, and they have to decide quickly.”

With a few of major differences. Ukraine didn't declare multiple wars of extermination against Russia. Ukrainians don't celebrate in the streets every time a Russian civvy is [errantly] killed by their side. Ukraine hasn't been identified by most of the West as a terrorist state. Ukrainian refugees in the West aren't terrorizing Russian ex-pats. Ukrainians tend not to use civilian occupied buildings to fight the war with Russia.

Ukrainian women (and Russian women, for that matter) are way hotter.

What Hamas? The remaining 6 of them are a threat?
